Partinico, a ride on the track with the Go Kart

Partinico: the perfect trip between excitement and relaxation

Spring is just around the corner and the desire to travel is growing stronger. In no time at all, the sun will once again begin to watch over the island of Sicily, nature will revive its colours and the days will become longer. What better time, then, to spend your days exploring Sicily? Here is the programme for the perfect excursion: thrilling recreational activities and an interesting trip to discover beautiful places.

Adventure-loving travellers gather: you’ve come to the right place!

Today we are going to discover two of the beauties guarded by one of Palermo’s best-loved villages, a must-see for all fearless adventurers in Sicily and beyond. We are talking about Partinico, a small town 34 km from the Sicilian capital, and, in particular, its adrenaline-filled Go-Kart track, the Pista del Lago, and the Monte Jato Archaeological Park.

Pista del Lago: the thrill of speed made in Sicily

The Pista del Lago (Lake Circuit), located in Contrada Baronia, Partinico, is close to Lake Poma, an artificial lake of fascinating beauty, created by the installation of a dam on the Jato river.

The track is a place of entertainment adored by children and adults alike. The experience of those who feel the thrill of racing on this circuit is both enjoyable and exciting: gradients, slow turns, fast turns, downhill turns, straights and changes of direction provide all drivers with a great adrenaline rush. The track is quite large, dynamic and very fun to do with different means, not only with Go Karts: in fact, at the Pista del Lago, you can race both with Go Karts rented directly on site, and with your own racing vehicles. Moreover, for those who are not particularly fond of “driving the game”, it is still possible to experience all the excitement of speed as passengers, thanks to the Tandem, the two-seater Go Kart.

A large parking area surrounds the track. In this area, on the busiest days, a real “drivers’ corner” is created, a sort of improvised gathering where curious people and lovers of the sector get to know each other, sharing tastes, interests and advice. It is an excellent opportunity for socialising and not just for fun.

Nearby, just after turn 3, there is also a bar where you can find refreshment after a sparkling race; the bar, which has a bathroom, also has a small covered area from which to see the entire track and watch the other drivers intent on beating their best times. A showcase displays all the best records of the day, week and month, as well as the records of the various categories and rentals.

The Pista del Lago track allows not only real drivers but also amateurs to express all their skills and abilities in driving and, at the same time, to spend a few hours of fun and light-heartedness.

More things to see in Partinico: Monte Jato Archaeological Area

atisfied with your ride on the Pista del Lago? Well, your fantastic trip continues with a visit to the Archaeological Area of Monte Jato!

Just a 30-minute drive from Lake Poma is the Archaeological Park of Mount Jato, an important, little-known but extraordinarily beautiful historical site. The park is located on the very top of Mount Jato (852 metres above sea level) and contains the remains of an ancient citadel called Iaitas.

Iaitas, probably founded by the indigenous people of the Elymians, came under the rule of the Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Byzantines and Muslims, and was finally razed to the ground by Frederick II in the 13th century.

The small town has Greek-Roman walls that are still solid and walls from the Middle Ages that, on the other hand, are very precarious.

It is a truly evocative place, rich in history, which can be visited free of charge from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays and public holidays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
