The Bam Bar in Taormina
Taormina is already colourful, but the Bam Bar looks like a big, colourful Sicilian cart, an explosion of bright colours depicted in paintings by Tino Giammona, an artist from Taormina who has brought Sicilian cheerfulness to a small bar.
Against a backdrop of enchanting majolica ceramics, the idol of tourists from all over the world is ‘Saretto’, a Sicilian who decided to make granitas to brighten the visitors’ stay.
Since that day, he has been making 25 flavours of granita, all inviting, tasty and super colourful, and I’d say he’s got the right business for the job.
His main masterpiece is the Pistachio Granita, made with authentic Bronte pistachios, a sublime taste that will enchant lovers of green gold.
The Bam Bar, in Taormina, is practically an institution when it comes to granitas; there are at least 400 VIPs who have at least once tasted and supported Saretto’s granitas, served in 22 years of flourishing activity.
If you take a moment to observe the number of people queuing for a table and the speed with which the granitas are served, it looks more like a very efficient granita factory than a bar.
Everything seems to work really well even the prices, for being in Taormina, are not exaggerated at all.
Once you have tasted it, you are really impressed by the intense taste of the flavours, the pistachio is really superlative, the fruit is velvety and fresh, the cream is as soft as a cloud and everything is accompanied by an orange flavoured brioche that makes you feel really wrapped up in the Sicilian scents.
To sum up, the Bam Bar in Taormina is a stop you can’t miss, a tasteful break on a sunny afternoon.
