Our Palermo was chosen this year as the setting for the 100th edition of the Italian Fencing Championships. A unique scenario: the blue sky, the warm embrace of the audience and the spectacle of the champions.
Four days full of emotions between the applause of Piazza Bellini and the suspense of Pala Mangano. The final day of the tricolour event saw the awarding of the A1 series team titles in women’s foil, women’s epee and men’s sabre.
In women’s epee, the Fiamme Oro won the Italian team title thanks to Giulia Rizzi in the final assault against the Aeronautica Militare.
The women’s foil title was won by the Carabinieri quartet of Martina Batini, Arianna Errigo, Martina Sinigalia and Claudia Borella.
Finally, in the men’s sabre, success for the Fiamme Oro with the team composed of Luca Curatoli, Francesco Bonsanto, Riccardo Nuccio and Stefano Scepi.
The Paralympic and blind championships were also exciting, giving us the opportunity to meet athletes of the calibre of Beatrice Vio.
Could we ever miss the opportunity to best represent our city during such an important event?
Sicily Rent Car loves challenges, just like those that our athletes have played between the Pala Mangano and Piazza Bellini with the iconic domes of the church of San Cataldo as a backdrop. And the three domes were also chosen for the event’s logo, the symbol of the city of Palermo.
As a partner of the event, we took an active part in the organization of the Fencing Championships, providing our cars for the events preceding the championships and ensuring the movement of athletes and staff within the city.
